Spanish Language Programs
Below are brief descriptions of each of our Spanish programs. Some programs consist of more than one course. We have a simple course for tourists and two separate and unique curriculums (Essential Spanish 1-3 & Structured Spanish I-IV) for learning Spanish.

Brief Program: Simple Survival Spanish
Spanish for Tourists and short term visitors.
This curriculum assumes no prior knowledge or experience with
Spanish. It is designed for those who need a very basic command of
Spanish immediately to survive some everyday social situations
they will encounter while visiting the Greater San Carlos area.

Overview
This course was designed as a primer for English speaking visitors and tourist. You will learn basic vocabulary and be taught clever ways to communicate with our spanish speaking hosts.

Flexible Curriculum: Essentials in Spanish for English Speakers
This is our flexible, conversational path to learning Spanish.
This
curriculum assumes no prior knowledge or experience with
Spanish. It is designed for those who speak English as their
primary language, but wish to learn conversational Spanish. The courses use a
variety of language teaching approaches to help the student work
toward mastery of all four basic language skills: listening,
speaking, reading and writing.
All levels are of short duration and repeated frequently. This is ideal for persons from Canada & the United States who live in and around San Carlos, but must travel back and forth on occasion.
Each of the three courses in the curriculum runs for 4 weeks, with the
students meeting 2 times a week for 1 hour. Attendance and
Preparation are important to your success as a student, as two
lessons are covered during each class.

Essential Spanish 1 (SP0010)
Overview
This course was designed as an introduction to Spanish for
the English speaking residents from Canada, United States and
the United Kingdom who live in and around San Carlos.
The course runs for 4 weeks with 2 sessions per week.
Generally, classes are conducted on Monday & Thursday. Class
time is reserved for speaking and listening. The abundance
of homework provides ample opportunity to practice reading and
writing. You will be

Essential Spanish 2 (SP0020)
Overview
Essential Spanish 2 (SP0020) is a continuing Spanish course which
assumes prior knowledge or experience with Spanish at the
Essential Spanish 1 (SP0010) or Structured Spanish I (SP1010) level. The course is communicative in
approach while at the same time using a variety of language
teaching approaches in order to help students achieve the
mastery of all four basic language skills: listening, speaking,

Structured Curriculum: Communicating in Spanish for English Speakers
This is our structured path to learning Spanish.
This
curriculum assumes no prior knowledge or experience with
Spanish. It is designed for those who speak English as their
primary language, but wish to learn Spanish fluently. The courses use a
variety of language teaching approaches to help the student work
toward mastery of all four basic language skills: listening,
speaking, reading and writing.
Each of the four courses in the curriculum runs for 12 weeks, with the
students meeting 2 times a week for 2 hours. Attendance is
very important to your success as a student, as the course
syllabus dictates a steady, forward moving, pace.

Structured Spanish 1 (SP1010)
Overview
This course was designed as an introduction to Spanish for
the English speaking residents from Canada, United States and
the United Kingdom who live in and around San Carlos. It
runs for 12 weeks.
The overall emphasis is on realistic situations that could prove
useful in a practical sense to the student. Since reading and
writing can be practiced at home, class time will be devoted
mainly to listening and speaking activities. You will be

Course Description
Intensive Essential Spanish (SP0123)
Overview
This course was designed as an introduction to Spanish for the English speaking residents from Canada, United States and the United Kingdom who live in and around San Carlos. This course compresses all of the material from our Essentials Curriculum (3 four week courses: SP0010, SP0020 & SP0030) into 1 week. It is offered once a month or so. Check our Schedule page for a listings.
The course runs for 1 week with 6 sessions, where
morning sessions are 9am - 12pm (3 hours) and afternoon sessions
are 2pm - 4pm (2 hours). Classes are conducted on Tuesday,
Wednesday & Friday. Students will receive 15 hours of classroom
instruction and an abundance of homework. Attendance is key to
your success as a student, as the course materials dictate a
